Course objective

The Master degree course aims to train professors for higher education activities and research matters. The trainning also aims to empower the ability of our students in investigating, reflecting and managing the complexities, challenges and conflicts related to human-nature relationship, under the aegis of sustainability, environmental health and quality of life. In this way, it undertakes to:

• Provide theoretical, methodological and epistemological conditions for the training and qualification of researchers, teachers and managers in the interdisciplinary area, helping them with the developing of autonomy, creativity, criticality and cooperation;

• Train professionals who work in teaching, research, extension and productive activities, respecting the principles of socio-cultural, environmental and economic sustainability, in the spheres of the State as well as of the society;

• Contribute to the creation and strengthening of research groups, committed to sustainable development in its multiple dimensions.

The master in Society, Environment and Quality of Life in the interdisciplinary area shall be able to:

• Produce analysis of concrete situations and to develop interdisciplinary research with methodological rigor and respect for ethical principles; and to produce knowledge;

• Contribute to the search for a qualified manner in the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies aimed at sustainable development in the Amazon;

• Identify, to understand and to act in a purposeful and innovative way, in the solutions of socio-cultural, environmental and health problems resulted by human interventions on ecosystems.
