“Cultural habits in times of a pandemic: human sensitivities, restlessness, health and quality of life” is the subject of a WebConference Debate.
The Post-Graduate Program in Society, Environment and Quality of Life, in partnership with the Research and Extension Program for Culture, Identity and Memory in the Amazon, from Ufopa, together with the Agostinho da Silva Chair and the Institute of Letters, from the University of Brasília, promoted a Virtual Meeting (LIVE-ON) on: “Cultural habits in times of pandemic: human sensitivities, restlessness, health and quality of life” on June 15, 2020. The partnership resulted in a strong debate about the theme and in the production and publication of the E-Book Cultural Habits in times of Pandemic.
The meeting aimed at an international discussion on cultural habits before, during and after the pandemic times, especially the times of Sars-CoVid-19. Professors and researchers from Santarém, Pará, Brasília and Nairobi, Kenya, debated on the relevance of investigating the intrinsic relationship between human sensitivities, unrest, health and quality of life, as manifestations of cultural habits in times of pandemic.
According to the organizers, the proposal was to present participants with the uneasiness about the Pandemic, since the world was caught in a situation of immediate decision, with governments and individuals having to position themselves and even force people to radical changes in their sociocultural habits. and personal. In view of the social impact never before seen in the history of the world and to try to avoid community transmission between people, political and health authorities started processes to produce new routines or new habits, which would be healthier, and which could reduce the number of infected people. Thus, strategies of social distancing or even social isolation, the obligation to wear masks in public environments, adequate hand hygiene with water and soap or alcohol have become immediate and effective strategies to control the disease, while there is no forecast for the production of a vaccine capable of acting against the virus and thus preventing contamination and death of people.

The result of the debate has just turned into an E-book that can be accessed and downloaded right here on our website. The speeches of the guests provoked more doubts than answers. However, this is important, because it is through questions that we can feel a point of common hope in overcoming the tragedy of the pandemic in the world: the feeling of more need for social life in times of social distance or social isolation.

The Group of Studies, Research and Extension in Environmental Education - GEPEEA, linked to the Postgraduate Program in Society, Environment and Quality of Life - PPGSAQ, from the Federal University of the West of Pará-UFOPA, which has among its guidelines, the generation of environmental education as an instrument of educational practices that favor the improvement of the Amazonian environment, decided to present in a booklet format some information about COVID-19, and to inform practices of Self-Care, considered important to avoid the COVID virus -19, which has established itself among humanity in recent years. Organized by teachers Maria Mirtes Cortinhas dos Santos, Helionora da Silva Alves, Thiago Almeida Vieira, from Ppgsaq, in addition to teachers Elton Raniere da Silva Moura, Maria Júlia Veiga da Silva and Urandi João Rodrigues Junior, Gepeea collaborators, student Luziene Santos da Silva, master's student at PPGSAQ, Primer organized by GEPEEA in partnership with PPGSAQ, both from Ufopa, is released with important information about COVD-19 in the Amazon that will leave deep marks on all families, mainly due to the concern of virus contamination in space and fear of losing loved ones, as has already occurred in some homes.
